
Janani Balasubramanian is an artist, director, and scholar working at the leading edge of art-science thought and collaboration. Janani has received support from many of the nation's most prestigious art and research funders, including the Sloan Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Pew Center, Sundance Institute, and Jerome Foundation. His work has been presented worldwide, including at the New York High Line, San Francisco Exploratorium, American Academy in Rome, and Academy of Natural Sciences. He is co-author of "Art-Science Undisciplined: A Playbook for Transformative Collaboration" (UC Press, 2026). A 2026-2027 Creative Futures Fellow and co-founder of Forever Lab at Stanford University, he serves on the boards of the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and SLAY Loans.
