$25,000 to support RoadKill Confidential (MAP 2008), by playwright Sheila Callaghan, a meditation on brutality and our own impulses toward violence and cruelty.
About the Project
In the play, a once-famous artist attempts to recapture her public's attention by taking the corpses of unlucky animals from their roadside graves and transforming them into pieces of art. These become enormous and all-consuming, moving from singular pieces to epic dead-animal dioramas. However, the impulses which fuel her creativity are not entirely innocent, as the other inhabitants of the play world come to learn.
